Trying to understand when to select a Paloma Legacy Tankless instead of a solution from the contemporary Digital Tankless line?

Legacy Tankless series have all been proven with years of use, and are ready to stand up to the rigors of difficult conditions where a Digital Tankless might not dare to tread.

If you can say YES to any of the following, you may be a candidate for ownership of a Paloma Legacy Tankless:

Low water pressure, from a well, for example
No electricity, or you want it to stand up to power outages.
Your installation will involve a long vertical vent run (unlike Digital Tankless, Legacy units are atmospherically vented using less expensive, galvanized "B" vent).

The Legacy 12 features match those of the Legacy 24. With just half the heating power of the 24, the Legacy 12 has capacity to spare beyond one full shower in warmer winter climates, but will support only a very weak shower on a January night up north.

If you live in Maine, why not substitute a cedar hot tub instead, which the Legacy 12 will fill with very hot water (90-degree temperature rise) at 95 gallons per hour?

Modulating Unit
Turn on your hot water faucet and water is heated instantly as it flows through the heating coils. The Paloma modulating control automatically adjusts the flame to the water flow you select. Low water demand equals low flame. Large water demand equals high flame. And Paloma's burners shut off automatically as soon as you turn off the faucet.

Paloma produces hot water only when and as much as you need. That's why you can save energy and money.

High Technology and Quality Design
Wall-mounted Paloma Tankless water heaters are built to perform efficiently with very little maintenance. First-class materials include a copper heat exchanger and combustion chamber, brass controls, stainless steel burners, and a hard-baked porcelain exterior. Palomas are easy to service and all parts are easy to replace.

Freeze Protection Kit
A thermostatically controlled kit keeps the water control body and water control case assemblies protected against freezing to a temperature of about minus 4 degrees F (without wind-chill factor).

*This Guide indicates Legacy 12 performance at the coldest point of the year at water pressure of 12.9 psi and above. A standard shower is 2.5 GPM at 104 degrees F. In order to get the full GPM and  shower performance with the Legacy series, it will be necessary to heat water at the HOT setting, and then mix with cold water.  This will create scalding conditions in your hot water.  USE WITH CAUTION! Check with your water supplier for actual local conditions.
